striping tape nail art

Hello blog, it has been far too long since I last posted anything. I’ve had a busy summer, which has been amazing, but now it’s time to get back to my long neglected blog.

Recently I’ve been loving the striping tape I purchased earlier in the year. There are so many cute striped nail designs online and striped manicures are surprisingly easy to do. While I haven’t completely perfected the technique, I’m pretty pleased with my attempts so far.

To create this design I used my trusty Sephora Formula X polishes, a bright blue shade Omni, a grape shade Indelible, and a mint green shade Unmistakable. Using a makeup sponge, I dabbed on each shade so they formed three horizontal stripes across the nail. Once they were dry, I applied strips of striping tape and finished by applying a black polish, dark matter.

The design looked better in my head than it did on my nails, but I still liked the effect. I’m still perfecting my striping tape technique so the lines on my nails weren’t completely clean, which is what I’m aiming for.

I think this design would also look great with a neon pink polish underneath.

My goals for the next month are to post more frequently, use some of my new polishes (I love Sephora Formula X polishes, but I’m a little bored of using them all the time), and to learn more about Photoshop. I’ve been experimenting with Photoshop recently and I love what I’ve discovered so far. One more goal, to buy a lightbox. I’m always wanting to improve my photography and having a lightbox would mean I can take photos in the evening too. I’m currently limited to taking photos just on the weekend when it’s light enough outside. So by the end of the month, I’ll have hopefully accomplished all of my goals.
