It has been a while! I hope everyone is still reading and enjoying the blog. Since I last posted, I’ve been preparing for my upcoming move (it’s only 5 minutes away but it’s still stressful) and I’ve been pretty busy at work. I have a creative job so sometimes it’s really hard to motivate myself to be creative when I’m home as I’ve been at it all day! I won’t complain though as I love being creative at work, it’s just a hard adjustment when I have always worked in non-creative jobs before.
I headed to Downtown Los Angeles last week with one of my friends, we hit some bead stores as we both make jewelry, but I also found some really cool nail supplies that I will be using over the next few weeks.
This week I decided to try a new design using my dotting tools, inspired by Pinterest! I took the dotting tool and created a cute polka dot swirl design using a red, orange, and yellow polish.
I love how this design turned out! The only down side was how awful my hands were this week, the weather was dry and as a result my hands were too! Anyway, I had so many compliments from strangers with this design, the most I’ve ever had for my nails! It’s deceptively simple, just take the dotting tool and carefully create circles starting from the inside out.
The polka dot spiral design works best with a white or light colored base and strong colors. I tried to create it with a black polish as the base but the polka dots didn’t show up. I had to re-start the process but I’m so happy with how it turned out.
The spiral design took a while to get right but I was really happy with the results. I’d love to know what you think of it.
